Sugah & Spice

A site for all things Romy.

About

I’ve been reading X-Men comics since 1994, having initially fallen in love with the character of Rogue from the Saturday morning cartoon, X-Men: The Animated Series. During my junior year of high school, I learned to code HTML and created my first web site, “When the Gloves Come Off,” on the now-defunct web hosting service, GeoCities. The site was initially focused on my favorite mutant heroine but quickly evolved to include content related to her long-time paramour, Gambit, and was subsequently renamed “Sugah & Spice.” I developed and maintained this site until the financial and temporal demands of college made the monthly purchase of comics unsustainable.

Due to my previous experience with web design, I decided to pursue a B.S. in Information Systems, which I received from Louisiana State University in 2003. The curriculum included development classes in VB6, JavaScript, and classic ASP (VBScript), skills which I expanded upon during my first job as a .NET developer.

I met my husband Chad in college while playing the MMORPG, EverQuest. Due to our mutual love of the fantasy genre, we both started playing World of Warcraft in 2004. I became enamored with my chosen character class, the Druid, and began a game-focused blog entitled Resto4Life in 2007. I stopped writing the blog in 2009 when the impending arrival of our son made me too tired to continue playing in the evenings after work.

I subsequently developed and maintained a number of WordPress-based sites, including www.hufflab.org and www.lonihuff.com. This reincarnation of Sugah & Spice is my most recent project and one I look forward to developing now that our son is a little older and I have more free time.
